History of Beaverton, OR
Beaverton is a city located in Washington County, Oregon, in the United States. It is a suburb of Portland, the state’s largest city. Beaverton is the sixth-largest city in Oregon and the second-largest in the Portland metropolitan area.
The area that is now Beaverton was originally inhabited by the Atfalati, a Native American tribe of the Kalapuya people. The Atfalati lived in the area for thousands of years, relying on the abundant natural resources of the region for their livelihood.
In the early 19th century, European settlers began to arrive in the area, and the Atfalati were forced to cede their land to the United States government through a series of treaties. The first European settlers in the area were William Stark and his family, who arrived in 1847 and established a farm near what is now the intersection of Southwest Murray Boulevard and Farmington Road.
The city of Beaverton was founded in 1893 and was named after the nearby Beaver Dam on the Tualatin River. The dam was built in the 1850s to power a sawmill, and the city was named after it because of the presence of beavers in the area.
In the early 20th century, Beaverton began to grow rapidly, thanks in part to the construction of the Portland-Beaverton Interurban Railroad, which connected the city to Portland. The city experienced further growth in the post-World War II era, and by the 1970s, it had become a major center for technology and manufacturing. Today, Beaverton is a diverse and thriving community, with a strong economy and a high quality of life.
No-Risk Closing — a Deal is a Deal
When we agree to buy your home, we guarantee the deal is done.
Many cash buyers make their offer contingent on selling your home immediately. If they don’t find another buyer, the deal is off and you don’t get your cash, even if you both already signed the paperwork.
We don’t think this is right. When we buy your home, we’ll be the final buyer and you’ll always get your cash.
